About Me

After I graduated from Lawrence High School in 2016, I briefly attended the University of Kansas. However, I was not sure what I wanted to do as a career and made the decision to pause my education until I knew what I wanted to pursue. In February of 2020 I began working at Billy Mills Middle School as a para in the ED/BD classroom. I quickly developed a passion for working in special education and gained a new appreciation for education. While I loved the job, it was not without its challenges, and the necessity for online school in 2020 was certainly a challenge. I learned to adapt to both online and hybrid formats for supporting students as well as navigating the transition back to fully in-person classes.

Through this position, my interest in becoming a teacher developed and I found the subject I enjoyed helping students with the most was math. For most of my life I had never considered myself a “math” person, but my interest in the subject grew. In the fall of 2022 I returned to KU to pursue a degree in math and complete the STEMTeach program. That same semester, I returned to my alma mater, LHS, this time as a para. I worked in the Resource+ classroom supporting students with a variety of disabilities, such as ASD or intellectual disabilities.

The STEMTeach program also gave me invaluable classroom experience. Through my Curriculum and Teaching courses, I have been able to observe, plan, and teach math lessons in Lawrence public schools. These lessons can be found in the My Work page of this website.

I love visiting my sister in Oregon and on this trip we went to the beach. It was a bit windy that day!
I will be taking my math Praxis exam in the Summer of 2025.
